Brassy
Cassie (Ann Jillian) has
been around, while virtuous Vicki (Wendy Schaal) has hardly been anywhere. Enterprising
Jan (Barrie Youngfellow) is studying for a college degree. Star-struck Dot (Gail
Edwards) wants to be an actress. And levelheaded Lois (Susan Sullivan) wants
to keep those curvy colleagues out of trouble with Nancy, the no-nonsense maitre
d' (Marian Mercer). All five are waitresses with a penchant for comic predicaments.
Innocent Vicki has been invited for a weekend in Palm Springs with a dashing
pilot; should she or shouldn't she? Dot hopes she'll get the TV commercial she
just auditioned for; will she or won't she? Jan's job is on the line if she
doesn't apologize for her treatment of two pinch-happy patrons; can she or can't
she? The girls wrestle with these dilemmas in the kitchen while the customers
stew, Nancy nags and the producers pray it's a living.
