Last season's The Last Resort was set in a rural resort full of college-boy
waiters. This series changes all that: it's set in a big-city club and the waiters
are wait-ress-esssssssses! And, of course, they have a tough, no-nonsense boss,
maitress d' Nancy (Marian Mercer, far left), to keep them in line. But that's
something they need. These waitresses may be swell to look at, but they're hardly
interchangeable look-objects: each has her own personality, with problems to
match, or mismatch. The table-hoppers are (continuing to the right) Cassie (Ann
Jillian), who's brash-blonde and wised up while Vicki (Wendy Schaal) is terminally
innocent; Jan (Barrie Youngfellow), who moonlights in college while Dot (Gail
Edwards) moons about an acting career; and Lois (Susan Sullivan), who's as sane
and sensible as she is statuesque. Which is plenty. They all stick together,
because if they have high hopes and big dreams, they also have customers, some
of whom drink too much, tip too little and pinch too often. Now then, is
this a living? It won't be--unless there are some pretty high ratings on order.
